Whirinaki Whare Taonga is seeking an Exhibition and Event Technician to join the creative and innovative team at Upper Hutt’s centre of the arts. Whether it’s dinosaurs or the Mona Lisa, Whirinaki is an arts centre that refuses to do boring and this role isn’t either. Our galleries have a revolving programme of exhibitions ranging from space photography to ceramics, impressionist paintings, superheroes, and more.
Your role is to assist with the preparation, installation, and maintenance of a changing programme of exhibitions and to assist with technical delivery of events in the theatre. This includes handling of artworks, installation and construction, digital, audio and AV presentation and lighting. You will be practical, have high standards and a love of the arts, and previous museum/gallery and theatre experience is desirable.
This position is permanent part-time at 24 hours per week with flexible hours required for installation weeks. Candidates must be able to work in New Zealand without restrictions before applying for this role.
This position is permanent part-time at 20 hours per week (we are flexible with days and hours) with some (minimal) weekend work required for public programmes.
